SHOPLIFTERS: Migdalia Santiago, 19, of 31 Church St was charged with retail theft for taking two packs of flash bulbs Saturday afternoon from the McCrorys store on N. Queen Street; a 14-year-old East Petersburg girl was charged with retail theft for taking an ornamental vase and flowers valued at $3 from the J.C. Penney store at Park City. THEFT: City police say a thief broke a window on the east side of a delicatessen at 943 N.

Walsh said the men face deportation, and immigration officials will arrive here on Monday.

Correction Lancaster County Sheriff Thomas Williams is not retiring, as was reported in last week's article on the sheriffs convention held at the Sheraton Conestoga. Williams, who was presented with an honor by the convention, has three and a half years to go before he retires. COLUMBIA IRC: A tar buggy outside Susquehanna Developers contracting firm on Lancaster Avenue exploded into flames about 12:30 m. Saturday. Flames spread into the firm's building causing about $2,000 damage, Columbia fire chief Robert Bailey said.

Susquehanna, Shawnee, Keystone and Vigilant fire companies responded. Firemen were at the scene for about 45 minutes. TRAILER FIRE: Sparks fl-om a trash fire ignited a mobile home on Turnpike Road, West Donegal Township, that was in the process of being de-. mollshed. Weaver 30, East Earl R2, turned into the path of a vehicle operated by council president Leon F. Weit, 61, of 304 Spring Garden Ephrata.

Weit, his wife, Helen, 60, and Weaver were taken to Ephrata Community Hospital for treatment. SHOPLIFTERS: Maria Isabel Cruz, 18, of 502 S. Lime and a 15-year-old city girl were charged with shoplifting several pairs of stockings valued at $10.94 from the Sears store at Park City at 8:30 p.m. Saturday; Larry Darnell Wesley, 18, of 27 Garden Court, was charged with shoplifting a $32.95 pair of blue jeans at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the Merry-Go-Round store at Park City.

ACCIDENT: Ronald Palmer, Nottingham Rl, was injured in a Saturday morning accident on Route 472 and is in serious condition at Wilmington Medical Center. Avondale state police said the accident happened at 3:15 a.m. in East Nottingham Township, Chester County. Police said a southbound car went off the road, traveled down an embankment and overturn E. and Mary E.

Kline Mencken. She attended Pittsburgh area pub-J lie schools and Sweetbrlar College in Lynchburg, Va. In 1938 she graduated from the Pennsylvania College for Women, now known as Chatham College. Mrs. Morrison attended St.

Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the Iris Club and Lancaster Country Club. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Capt. Charles Q. Morrison, Fort Mclellan, two grandchildren and an aunt. Gordon Gantz, 70, Dies In Wisconsin Gordon H.

Gantz, 70, who had re--tired seven years ago as floor plant controller after 45 years at Armstrong Cork Company here, died Saturday morning in a Green Bay, Wisconsin, hospital after a year's illness. He and his wife, Dorothy, who survives, had moved to Green Bay about a year ago where they resided in the Woodside Oak Apts, at 1031 Anderson Drive. They had resided at 95 Barre Drive, in Lancaster. Until their move, he had been a lifelong resident of this area. He was the last of his immediate family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carol, wife of Allan Pfromm of Green Bay; and a son, Gordon H. Jr of Milwaukee. Gantz had joined Armstrong in 1927, first working in the calendar department office. After a number of assignments in the floor plant, he was named division cost accountant and then, in 1958, plant controller. He had been active in several area activities, among them the Lancaster Optimists Club which holds its luncheon meetings at Meadow Hill.

Eli Horst, 85, Dies in Florida Eli S. Horst, 85, of Riverside, formerly of Ephrata. died Wednesday, Sept. 24, of a heart attack. Born in Carnervon, he was the son of the late Rubin W.

and Frances Sweigert Horst. His wife, Ruth Campbell Horst, preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Muriam, wife of Roy Witmer, of Hel-lam RD, and three sons: Henry, of Memphis, and David and Douglas Horst, both of Riverside. Other survivors are four brothers Rubin of Landisville; Phares of Maui, Hawaii; Walter of Leola; Bishop Lloyd of Dayton, ana three sisters: Frances, wife of Lehman LeFevre, of Manheim; Anna, wife of Jacob Herr, of the Landis Homes, and Katie, wife of John K. Shenk, of Intercourse.

Virginia Mencken Morrison, niece of famed author H. L. Mencken, died at Lancaster General Hospital Saturday. following an illness of three weeks. Mrs.

Morrison, wife of David S. Morrison, 340 Blossom Hill Road, had lived in the county since 1941. She was 65. Mrs. Morrison was a frequent subject in the books of her sharp-tongued, frequently humorous uncle, whose shrewd political observations made him the foremost columnist of the early 20th century.

when Mencken, whose 100th birthday is being observed this year, died In 1956, he left Mrs. Morrison a $5,000 bequest. Mrs. Morrison was born In Oil City, the daughter of the late Charles Aaron Martin, 89, Retired Farmer Aaron H. Martin, 89, of Reinholds R2, died Saturday at 11:55 a at his home.

Death followed a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Alice G. Weber Martin, who died in 1972. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Gehmans Mennonite Church, Reinholds R2 Born in East Earl Township, he was a son of the late Christian and Katie Horning Martin.

Surviving are these children: Lucy W. Martin, at home; Esther, wife of Lester W. Gehman, Mohnton R2; Paul LaJunta, Carl W. and Weaver both of Reinholds R2; Warren W. Martin, Oley R2; Viola, wife of William Weaver, Manheim R3; 27 grandchildren: 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Noah H.

Martin, Mennonite Home; and a sister, Susan wife of Amos Zimmerman, Denver Rl. Jacob King The body of Jacob S. King, 52, Willow Street, was discovered Friday afternoon in Buchmiller Park. Dr. Whitlow Show, county coroner, said Saturday that a certificate of suicide would be issued in the case.

A note found with the body indicated King had been in a depressed state, the coroner said. King was born in Lancaster County, the son of Mrs. Lizzie Esh King, Strasburg Rl, and the late Daniel King. Survivors include a son, Emanuel King, living in Florida; four daughters, Sadie Mae, wife of John Fisher, Newville, Leah, wife of Alvin Yoder, Union County, Lizzie, wife of Mose Lapp, Gordonville Rl, and Enda King, Paradise Rl; 11 grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters. Mary Gilbert Dies Following Illness Mary Floy Gilbert, 87, of the Luthertown Home in Mount Joy, died Friday evening, Sept.

26, at the Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital alter an extended illness. She was the widow of C. Raymond Gilbert, who died in 1965. Born in Middletown. the daughter of Levi N.

and Mary Folt2 Peck, she resided In Mount Joy most of her life until she moved to Luthertown four years ago. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Joy, the Lutheran Church Women of Trinity, Chapter 407 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Elizabethtown and the Mount Joy Business and Professional Womens Club. She Is survived by a son, John Gilbert, of Mandeville, two' daughters, Jane, wife of Dr. Charles B. Frank, of Tantallon, ahd Mary Edith, wife of Charles C.

Bond, of Rydal; a brother, John C. Peck, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Russell Snyder, 76, Etown Resident Russell W. (Andy) Snyder, 76, of 218 Lemon Elizabethtown, died at Lancaster General Hospital Saturday morning. He was born in Red Lion, a son of the late John and Nellie Snyder.

He owned and operated the Red Lion Dry Cleaners for over 50 years and was a resident of Lancaster County for the past 15 years. He was a life member of the BPOE, Lodge 1592, Red Lion, and the Hawk's Gunning Club, York. He was the last of his immediate family. Thomas Carrasquillo Thomas Carrasquillo, 59, of 839 S. Duke St died unexpectedly Friday evening at Lancaster General Hospital.

A native of Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Demetrio and Valentina Cepeda Carrasquillo and came to Lancaster nearly 20 years ago. He had been employed in the kitchen at the Host Town for 18 years. Surviving besides his widow, Victoria Carmen, are six stepchildren: Maribel Ayala, Madeline Ayala, Virginia Ayala, Pancho Ayala, Elizabeth Ayala and Daisy Ayala, all at home. Also surviving are these brothers and sisters: Ramon, Aurelio, Domingo, Cristobalina, Carmen and Deme-tria, all of Puerto Rico; and Arcadia, of New York City, Mrs. Minnie Potts Minnie D.

Potts, 80, of 905 N. President died Friday at the Leader Nursing Home in Elizabethtown after a three-month illness. She was the widow of Edward J. Potts, who died in 1971. Born in Lancaster, a daughter of the late Phillip and Bertha Krall Dinges, she had been a lifelong resident In the Lancaster area.

She was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by two daughters and a son, M. Lorraine Weatherholtz of Elizabethtown; Jane wife of Russell L. Hoak of Lancaster, and Edward Lancaster; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Miller of Lancaster. Enck Infant John Russell Enck II, the 2-month-old son of John D.

and Nancy Horning Enck of Penryn, died Friday evening at the Hershey Medical Center. The infant had been ill since birth. Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mandy Beth Enck; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Horning of Manheim; paternal grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. John R. Enck of Albrightsvllle; maternal great-grandparents. Mr. and Mrs.

Hennecke, 83, of Columbia R2, died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert Hennecke, who died May 1, 1943. She was born in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late Frank and Emma Herr Johnson. In earlier years she had been a waitress at various local restaurants.

She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn E. Beecher, of Columbia R2, and Ethel Willcox, of Lancaster; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters.
